How changes in circumstances can affect training, rotations and CCT

Modified on Thu, 20 Aug at 4:23 PM

What this article is about
This article explains how changes in circumstances may affect your training programme, placement arrangements and expected completion date.

Who this is for
Doctors and dentists in training whose personal, health, caring, work pattern or training circumstances have changed.

What you need to know

  • Changes in circumstances may affect your rotation, placement, work pattern, ARCP, revalidation, training time or CCT date.
  • Absence from training, time out of programme, LTFT working or other changes may require review through the relevant training process.
  • Training progress is reviewed through ARCP and is based on evidence of capability and curriculum progression.
  • In some situations, training time may need to be paused or the expected completion date reviewed.
  • Changes may also affect employer arrangements, rota planning and sponsorship reporting where applicable.

What to do

  1. Tell your employer if the change affects your work, attendance, contract, pay or rota.
  2. Tell your Training Programme Director or educational supervisor if the change affects your training.
  3. Raise a query through the PGMDE Support Portal if your training record, rotation or CCT date may need to be reviewed.
  4. Complete the relevant application process if the change relates to LTFT, OOP, deferral, special circumstances or return to training.
  5. Keep evidence of decisions and correspondence.
  6. Check your training record and portal details after the change has been processed.

If this does not work
If you are unsure whether your CCT date or training time should change, ask for this to be reviewed through the relevant training process. Do not assume that a change has been recorded until you receive confirmation.

Who to contact
Use the PGMDE Support Portal for training record and programme queries. Contact your employer for employment, pay, contract, rota or leave matters.
